Make your own shiny paint!

Peighton and I had a BLAST making this paint and then of course painting with it!

It has such a different texture than "regular" paint!
I won't tell you just how many pictures we made....

Shiny Paint

corn syrup
food coloring

Pour some corn syrup (I think I did like 3-4 tablespoons of each color) into a bowl, add a few drops of food coloring and mix!
That's it-you're ready to paint!

We had so much fun-I highly recommend trying this one!

thanksgiving tablecloth!

LOVE this tablecloth!
The 3 center strips are where the plates will sit, kind of like built-in placemats!

And some random lamp projects from today!

This one was just a plain white lamp shade that was SOOOO boring!
Had some scraps of black and white toile (my favorite!) left from curtains and look what I did!

This one I bought at Target today and it was a boring old white lampshade again!  But now it's
DISCO DOTS!!!!!!

So fun!
I think I'll add some funky beads to the bottom or something but for now, they are pretty darn cute!

Cinnamon Ornaments

Peighton and I had a great time making these yummy smelling ornaments yesterday!

I'll get some pictures when we hang them on the tree!

Cinnamon Ornaments

1 cup cinnamon

1 cup applesauce

1/2 t. nutmeg

1/2 t. ground cloves

1/2 t. allspice

Mix them all together until it's kind of like playdoh. I had to add a bit of flour to make it a bit less sticky.

Roll out with a bit of flour and cut with cookie cutters.

Poke a hole for hanging with a straw.

Let dry for a couple days.

Tie a few inches of ribbon through the hole and hang on the tree or tie on packages!

Some "fun" stuff I've been doing!

We are already thinking Christmas around this house!
Yesterday, we made some fabulous stockings!
I hand sewed pearls onto all the points of the triangles....should have taken a new picture because they are even cuter!!!!

And some uber-fabulous bags with matching little pouches and keychains-which are sadly MIA in this picture!
Wouldn't you love to have this under YOUR tree!!!!!
Some lucky people in my life will have it under theirs!

I also just finished a fabulous skirt for myself.....but it definately needs a modeling shot-laying on my floor does it NO justice!

A bit of a birthday preview!

We are CRAZY about cupcakes around here lately!
Peighton's third birthday is coming up in a few weeks and the preparations have begun.
Our giant cupcakes will sit on the cake stands....snack mix in our teacups with adorable pinwheels sticking out and that fun pennant hanging in an archway!
Super cute for a super special little girl!

Peighton is loving her cupcake seat!
She'll have her own special spot for blowing out the candles!

And one more cupcake thing!
SLIPPERS!!!!

Our hardwoods are getting quite cold as the weather gets cooler....so we decided to whip up some cupcake slippers!!!!

Kool-aid Play doh!

have you ever made this stuff?  It is just so fun!  It smells good and it's great to play with on a cold winter day.
So, here's the recipe:

Kool-aid playdoh

1 1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 1/2 T oil
1/2 T alum
1 package kool-aid
1 cup HOT water

Mix it all together and enjoy!
I usually have to add more flour to it as I am mixing it up, just until it is easy to work with.

We like to make lots of different scents at one time and enjoy all the unique smells!!!!

Have fun!
I need to get some pictures of us playing with it....Peighton is such a fun play-doh player!

I got to test a pattern!

Super fun! I got to test a new pants pattern for Whimsy Couture Boutique!
LOVE her stuff and this one does not disappoint!
Simple little flared pants with a comfy elastic waist.
Wonder if they come in my size.....

a pumpkin craft...approved by Peighton

This one is kinda silly but still loved by my almost-three-year-old!

I love that we were able to use things we had around the house too!

Supplies

Lids of juice cans
Elmer's school glue
food coloring (red and yellow)
construction paper
magnets
Glue gun

Mix about 1/2 cup glue with the food coloring to  make orange. (I looked on the back of my box to see how many drops of each it took to make orange.)
Peighton LOVED the mixing the glue part and watching it change colors!

Next, pour it onto the juice lid.  Be careful not to put in too much-we did and had one overflow!

Let it dry for a few days.

Peel off the dried glue.
Cut shapes for the face of the pumpkin and the stem.
Glue on.

I used the glue gun to attach the magnets to the back, I thought it might stick a little better.

Here are our finished pumpkins....and my happy little pumpkin too!
She sent some off to her grandmas-they are going to love it!

I Spy Photo Book

I love great tutorials and ideas I find on other blogs so I thought it was time I start sharing some of what Peighton and I do on a daily basis around here....usually something crafty!

Here is what we made this morning.....

"I Spy Photo Book"

Supplies

Small photo album

pictures of "Collections"

glue gun

large scrap of fabric

scraps of ribbon (optional)

I went around the house and took pictures of collections of "things." Little people, play food, the silverware drawer, the junk drawer, shoes, tools in the garage, etc.

I printed them out and stuck them in her book.

I left a double page spread for each picture. The picture is on the left and a list of what she has to find will be on  the right.

Then I cut a rectangle of fabric about an inch bigger than my photo album on each side.

I cut small openings for the spine of the book and wrapped the rest like a present using lots of glue!

I still need to print out the "what to find" pages, but a little helper seems to have stolen my book before I could get it done!  Guess she can't read yet anyway, so I think I have time to get that done!

Here's my cover. I added a little rick rack and a bow....because we like things like that!

She was browsing her book immediately! I think this will be great in the car!
Look at her concentration! Ha!

Enjoy!  I think we'll be making more of these!

buttons

Loving this style for fall and what great colors!!!!!

I adore the addition of buttons on the front of this peasant top and such great twirl with that full skirt!

I'm thinking it would look great with some ballet flats or some funky boots.
